Hi, I'm Dr. Janine
Naturopathic Doctor and fellow mama.
I truly believe that our enjoyment of life is connected to our health. When we feel great, we can do all of the things. When we feel like crap, the simple tasks of life feel oh so hard. I know what it feels like to go through hormonal changes, to be a sleep deprived parent, to juggle many moving pieces all at once while trying to keep it all together. I also know that with a strategy, it is possible to go from surviving to thriving, and to in-turn have a healthy, thriving family.
I am passionate
The healthcare system in Ontario, while fantastic in many ways, is doing women a disservice in the realms of education. I really want women to understand their bodies, their hormones, and to feel confident in their ability to raise healthy children.
I am realistic
You are busy. I am busy. We all need to learn to slow down a little bit and create a plan that feels feasible. The last thing you need is more stress in your life. We’ll keep things strategic yet simple.
I am a bit of a nerd
I love learning about the human body. I love analyzing lab work. I love reading articles on medical databases to inform my evidence-based approach. Our bodies are SO interesting and I hope to enlighten you with this in our journey together.
I like to have fun
And I want the same for you! My goal is never to take away your favourite foods or activities. We work to create a lifestyle that feels good for you and your body. That allows you to experience true joy and fulfillment in your every day life.
When I’m not seeing patients and doing research, I’m running around after my kids, cooking nourishing, simple food, walking and biking around downtown Guelph where I live and work, or running off solo to a soccer game or gym class.
about naturopathy
Naturopathic medicine seeks to address why illness is happening and to find ways to optimize the function of the body for long-term health. It is individualized healthcare using safe, gentle and effective natural treatment methods, including clinical nutrition, lifestyle counselling, nutritional and botanical supplements, and acupuncture.
Licensed Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) have a broad scope of practice: they can diagnose disease, order lab tests and perform physical exams. They work with individuals looking for health optimization, disease prevention, symptom or side effect management, guidance on vitamins and supplements, and alternatives to current medications. Education and accountability is emphasized, empowering patients to understand and participate in their health journey.
