6 Foolproof Steps To Combat Burnout This Holiday Season
I know you lead a busy life and manage a ton of things on any single day, and honestly this is my life too! Some of the to-dos are big, others small, but even the small things add up to a heavy mental load. This is intensified during The Holiday Season. A time meant to slow down, appreciate, and be with family usually ends up looking more like…
“When is this party? What do I need to bring for that gathering? Where is the elf for said shelf?! Are we sending out Christmas cards? Who wants what under the tree this year? I need to get the decorations out, set them up, water the tree, wrap presents…
When you’re already juggling a million pieces, adding on Holiday to-dos is a recipe for burnout, Mom rage, and exhaustion. In the body this looks like cortisol surge and is extremely draining (IYKYK)
Did you know we actually use the same part of our brain to remember things, plan things out, make decisions, have willpower, and to stay calm. On a day or week or month where you've made too many decisions or have had to constantly rush around, it’s harder to stay calm!
So, What Can We Do About This?
FIRST - Recognize that the load is heavy. If you’re adding more balls to juggle during this time, you may need to drop other things (even if it’s just temporary!) to be able to handle it all!
ASK - Do you NEED to do all the things? Be intentional and reflective on what are NEEDS vs. WANTS. Can other people take on some of the load and fully take responsibility for those tasks? It may not look exactly how you like it to look but if it relieves your load that's ok!!
REFLECT - What is the intention behind all of these to dos? Are you achieving that intention at the cost of your health, sleep, and/or mood?
MINIMIZE DECISIONS - Are there ways to automate certain things? Minimize decisions in terms of meals? Look at meal planning (link to meal planning blog)?
PRIORITIZE - How can you preserve your brain power for the things that matter most? The mental load and pace of life take a toll over time. you can thrive for periods of time in high intensity, but when the pace never slows you’ll feel it eventually!
FORGIVE - Be gentle and reflective with yourself! You don’t need to do it all!
My Clinic Schedule This Holiday Season:

At this point I will likely only have a small amount of time available from Dec. 23-Jan. 3. If you would like to see me during that time please reply to this email to join the waitlist.
