🤔 Does this sound familiar?

The demands of the day are high, and there are so many moving pieces that sometimes it feels like there’s no chance for rest until the evening. You steal quick snippets of pause by scrolling through social media or checking emails, but the noise of people, to-dos, and constant online information never seems to stop.

Eventually, it all catches up with you. You feel anxious, irritable, and frustrated. You’re up at night, thinking about it all, unable to turn off. If this resonates, it’s your sign that you NEED to slow down during the day.

But, how? Let’s get into it!

👨🏻‍👩🏻‍👦🏻 Why Pausing Feels Hard For Many (You’re Not The Only One):

We live in a culture that values productivity above all else. We’re taught from a young age that our worth is directly tied to how much we produce. And this often leads us to believe that we can only truly relax in the late evening or during vacations, not during the day.

The truth is, this lack of pause is what’s contributing to many of the challenges we face today, especially for women.

🩺 This contributes to health factors such as:

➡️Fueling hormone imbalances
➡️Increasing anxiety
➡️Triggering insomnia
➡️Contributing to feelings of rage.

Our nervous system, which is designed to protect us, doesn’t always recognize when we’re not in real danger. Often, it just knows that we have too much going on. And over time, it takes a toll.

đź’š THE IMPORTANCE OF PAUSING:

It doesn’t have to be a major life change. You don’t have to quit your job or radically shift your entire routine to start finding peace. Sometimes, all it takes is one simple action: pausing.

You can start by taking just one minute to ground yourself after lunch, then another minute when you get home from work. The simple act of pausing for a moment can give your nervous system a much-needed breather. And before bed, create a routine that doesn’t involve scrolling through social media. Your brain deserves some space to unwind before you sleep.

It’s important to understand: things won’t fall apart if you stop for a minute. In fact, you’ll likely still get a lot done in your day. But in those moments, you give yourself the opportunity to restore and reset your energy and focus.

đź“‹ Try This Simple Habit For Regaining Your Calm in the midst of chaos:

You don’t need to wait for a vacation to reset your body. It’s all about reminding yourself that you are safe and worthy of rest.

Try this: When things become overwhelming, pause. Take a step back and put your hands on your chest. Take a deep breath, and stop for a moment. Remind yourself, “I deserve to be at peace. I am worthy of rest, even in the middle of my busy day.” You can say this to yourself in your mind, or literally say it out loud. Sometimes, we don’t actually hear something unless it’s spoken.

It may sound too simple. But the majority of people aren’t doing this simple step to regain their focus and calm down.

It’s time to stop believing the myth that productivity means worthiness. Slow down, and give yourself permission to pause.

Hi, I’m Dr. Janine, ND

I’m a Naturopathic Doctor currently practicing in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

I truly believe that our enjoyment of life is closely tied to how we feel physically. When we’re healthy, we can take on anything. But when we feel off, even the simplest tasks become overwhelming. I’ve been through hormonal shifts, sleepless nights as a parent, and the stress of balancing everything. But I also know that with the right strategy, we can go from surviving to thriving—and create a healthy, thriving family in the process.

I look forward to meeting you soon.
