As I announced last week, I’m hosting a free online masterclass.

Beyond Hormones: The 3 Hidden Drivers Behind Your Perimenopause Symptoms.

This will be offered on Monday, March 23 at 7pm, and Tuesday, March 24 at noon!

I hope you can attend one and/or pass it along to someone who may benefit! www.ndguelph.ca/perimenopause

In preparation for this webinar. Here are some of my hopes that women remember while entering and navigating this phase:

  • Many women live long and healthy lives for many years post-menopause.  The transition might be trying at times, but it’s not the end of your healthy and fulfilling years.

  • Your experience matters.  Paying attention to the fluctuations in your symptoms throughout your cycles (and lack of cycles) is one of the best ways to guide what is going on and what might be helpful for you.

  • Your baseline health matters.  In this phase of life your baseline nutrition, sleep habits and movement habits can be REALLY supportive and are essential foundations.

  • Cortisol plays a big role in your body’s tolerance to the estrogen/progesterone changes.  Cortisol - the stress hormone - is absolutely essential to your body and health, but being in a constant state of stress is VERY draining to your body especially in this phase where you will be more sensitive.  We NEED to find ways to let go of expectations, to meet our body’s needs with as much/more priority as the people we’re supporting, to find moments of calm/pause in the day.

  • Prevention is VERY helpful for cardiovascular health and bone density.  When things are starting to become a concern - dietary/lifestyle treatments can be quite successful.  When they’re a disease - it’s much more difficult.  We want to test blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and vitamin D in this period and look at trends overtime to see where things are moving.  We want to discuss proactive treatments to support these systems!

  • Everyone’s experience will be different.  Hormones can be changing dramatically which impacts everyone differently.  There are many confounding factors that may be causing or exacerbating things like iron deficiency and high stress.  You deserve individual support to figure out your best plan and that plan may need to change over time!

Hi, I’m Dr. Janine, ND

I’m a Naturopathic Doctor currently practicing in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

I truly believe that our enjoyment of life is closely tied to how we feel physically. When we’re healthy, we can take on anything. But when we feel off, even the simplest tasks become overwhelming. I’ve been through hormonal shifts, sleepless nights as a parent, and the stress of balancing everything. But I also know that with the right strategy, we can go from surviving to thriving—and create a healthy, thriving family in the process.

I look forward to meeting you soon.
