Information Overload

Information is everywhere and it’s amazing and awfully confusing at the same time.
If you’re in the perimenopause phase there are herbal combos, diets, exercise regimes, protein products, hormone prescriptions, and more protein products everywhere.
If you’re in the early parenting phase there are a million products to help your baby develop and sleep better, ways to feed them, sleep habits, attachment habits, activities to support their development, discipline strategies, etc.
And if you’re anywhere in between there is just a lot to navigate.
If you have health goals and are feeling overwhelmed what should you do?
1.Set yourself up with a great health team.
Your health care providers should be able to provide you with accurate, research-backed information. As a Naturopathic Doctor, this is always my goal. It’s MY JOB to weed through the nuances to keep things simple for you! You need a village! You may also need that support to be a few people. The body is complex. You may need the manual therapy support (massage, chiro, osteopathy, physio) + mental health support in addition to your MD/ND.
2. Knowledge is empowering, but you don’t need to acquire all of that knowledge for yourself.
Acquiring all of the information on your own is going to be too overwhelming. You should not need to turn to Google, Tiktok, Instagram, or your local Facebook group. They don’t know your whole story and health history. Your health team does. We can outline a great plan that you can feel at peace with, knowing that you have a strategy. Strategies build confidence.
3. Trust yourself.
While you might not be a healthcare professional, you are the expert on your body. No one knows you better than you know yourself! You often know what’s getting in your way and what your body responds to well.
3. Would haves, should haves and could haves don’t help.
Be kind to yourself. You are human. You are going to fumble sometimes, but you are resilient. Being kind to yourself will allow you to continue forwards with your health goals in the long run. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all of the ‘rules’ and information. Stop for a moment and take a deep breath.

Hi, I’m Dr. Janine, ND
I’m a Naturopathic Doctor currently practicing in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
I truly believe that our enjoyment of life is closely tied to how we feel physically. When we’re healthy, we can take on anything. But when we feel off, even the simplest tasks become overwhelming. I’ve been through hormonal shifts, sleepless nights as a parent, and the stress of balancing everything. But I also know that with the right strategy, we can go from surviving to thriving—and create a healthy, thriving family in the process.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
