Menopause & You: Why a Multidisciplinary Approach to Care Matters

The human body is incredibly complex. Hormones, cells, and neurotransmitters don't work in isolation. They’re constantly interacting with a host of other factors, from genetics and nutrition to sleep, stress, trauma, and even our social environment. When it comes to health, especially chronic or transitional conditions, there's rarely a single cause or cure. Instead, a web of influences can shape how we experience and respond to what’s happening in our bodies.
Menopause is a perfect example of this complexity.
Yes, hormones are a central part of the story, but so much more contributes to your experience of menopause: level of social support, stress at work or home, family dynamics, nutrition, access to healthcare, race, socioeconomic status, caregiving responsibilities, underlying health issues, and nutrient deficiencies. It’s incredibly multi-faceted, and everyone’s journey is different.
💚Menopause doesn’t just impact one area of the body either.
It touches nearly every system:
Bone health
Brain and cognitive function
Heart health
Mood and emotional well-being
Urinary tract and vaginal health
Joint pain
Skin and hair changes
Sleep quality
Because menopause affects so many aspects of health, it requires an approach to care that reflects that complexity. That’s why a multidisciplinary approach is not just helpful, it’s essential!
Looking at the whole person, not just their hormone levels, is how we provide the best care and help you feel truly supported during this transition.
💬A Conversation Worth Having
That’s why I’m thrilled to be partnering with 10C to host a special event:

📅Wednesday, May 7
📍 Guelph Farmer’s Market
🎬 Screening at 7:00 PM | Panel Discussion at 8:00 PM
Meet the Panel
I’ve invited an incredible group of women to join me in this conversation:
Megan Dunn, Nurse Practitioner
Megan brings clinical insight into medical management, including hormone replacement therapy and other treatments where appropriate.Monica Pease, Social Worker
Monica offers essential support around mood, identity, stress, relationships, and the psychological aspects of menopause. Counseling is often an overlooked, but a deeply impactful part of care.Heidi Smith, Registered Dietitian
Heidi’s expertise in nutrition helps cut through the confusion and empowers women to support heart health, bone density, muscle mass, and mood with evidence-based guidance.
This panel is designed to reflect the kind of care I believe we deserve. Care that’s integrated, informed, and individualized.
I can’t wait to share this space with you and continue the conversation about what true menopause support can and should look like.
Hope to see you there!
Hi, I’m Dr. Janine, ND
I’m a Naturopathic Doctor currently practicing in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
I truly believe that our enjoyment of life is closely tied to how we feel physically. When we’re healthy, we can take on anything. But when we feel off, even the simplest tasks become overwhelming. I’ve been through hormonal shifts, sleepless nights as a parent, and the stress of balancing everything. But I also know that with the right strategy, we can go from surviving to thriving—and create a healthy, thriving family in the process.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
